STONE OPTIONS

GRANITE

Granite is composed mostly of coarse-grained quartz and feldspars in varying proportions. It is 100% natural so no two countertops are the same. A durable material that’s resistant to heat and many other kitchen elements. We recommend sealing 1-2 times a year.

QUARTZ

Quartz countertops are man-made and formed by combining 90 percent ground quartz with 10 percent resins, polymers, and dyes. Quartz is actually harder than granite therefore more durable. Quartz is nearly indestructible, and because it isn’t porous like granite, it’s easy to keep your countertops relatively free of bacteria and no sealing is required.

QUARTZITE

Quartzite is a natural stone derived from sandstone that has been exposed to high temperatures and pressure. It’s one of the strongest natural stones available for countertops. Quartzite does need to be sealed 1-2 times a year to maintain the resistance to staining and discoloration.

ONYX

Onyx is a rare and translucent stone that is formed on the surface from ground or spring water that is rich in calcite. Onyx is among the most expensive natural stone options for countertops. It is soft, fragile and requires a lot of maintenance. It is a great choice for an accent piece that won’t be subject to heavy wear such as a fireplace surround, side or coffee tables.

MARBLE

Marble is a naturally occurring stone that results from the metamorphosis of limestone. Its elegance and beauty are timeless, but one should proceed with a bit of caution. Marble is porous which allows oils and stains to seep into the stone so it needs to be sealed. It is softer than granite or quartz allowing scratches and etching to be more prevalent.
